  • Eco-Club Build Bug Hotel for Station

Campion Eco-Club students have been actively engaged this year in an exciting Wild Rails project.

In collaboration with the Heart of England Community Rail Partnership, the school’s Eco-Club students have been working hard, this term, to promote biodiversity and environmental sustainability. Pupils have planted vibrant geraniums at the base of a bug hotel, which will be installed at Leamington Spa train station this summer. This initiative aims to create a welcoming habitat for pollinators and beneficial insects, to enrich the local ecosystem and support the health of local gardens.

The bug hotel, currently residing in its temporary home in the school's Conservation Area, will be an important feature at the station and is designed to provide shelter for insects such as bees, ladybirds, and solitary bees, who will contribute to the wider ecological balance. The

Students' practical work not only helps enhance biodiversity, but also raises awareness about the importance of pollinators and sustainable urban greening.

Please visit Leamington station this summer, along with your friends and family, to see the bug hotel in-situ and to appreciate the efforts of our Eco-Club students in making our community greener and more environmentally friendly. Their dedication exemplifies how youth involvement can make a meaningful difference in environmental conservation.
