Calling it Out

On 6 October, Year 9 pupils watched Loud Mouth Theatre's production and workshop, 'Calling it Out', which reinforces the vital message of non-tolerance of harmful sexual behaviours.

The performance and discussion-based workshop explores where these behaviours originate and promotes alternative positive behaviours. The programme raises the students’ awareness of the huge, negative impact these everyday incidences of sexual harassment and assault can have on girls and young women, and how we all, as a society, have a role in safely challenging and reporting these behaviours.

The programme aims to raise the students’ awareness of what harmful sexual behaviours are, the many forms they take, where these behaviours are rooted and the impact they have. The programme is designed to challenge these negative attitudes and behaviours and to promote equality and respect towards girls and women. We hope that the students left the session having a clearer understanding of this topic and learnt basic strategies to support them to safely call out and report incidences of sexual harassment and assault.
