A Midsummer Night’s Dream Comes to Life

The school’s recent production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream has been a truly magical experience and we could not be more proud of the children involved. They worked incredibly hard over many weeks, tackling Shakespeare’s,  challenging, Tudor English language with determination, confidence and enthusiasm. Learning difficult lines is no easy task, yet the children rose to the challenge brilliantly, supporting one another and showing real commitment every step of the way.

Rehearsals were filled with focus and laughter as the cast merged into a strong team as they brought the ancient story to life. Alongside the acting, some of the children interpreted the action through dance, adding energy and movement to the performance, while all of the cast sang beautifully. A special mention must go to our soloists, whose individual performances interpreted specific dramatic moments - they truly shone on the stage.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the school’s Premises and Maintenance Manager, Andy Taylor, for his fantastic set and scenery construction — the trees and thrones truly transformed the space and created a magical woodland world in which to set the play. A huge thank you, too, to Art Technician, Pat Bryan, for her incredible artistry with Oberon’s cloak and, also, The Wall, which added so much character and humour to the production. This has been a real team effort, and we are immensely proud of everyone involved for making A Midsummer Night’s Dream such a memorable production.

As ever, a huge thanks must go to parents and carers for their help with line learning and costume-making and, also, to Head of Creative Arts, Helen Cook, and Marketing Manager, Katie Goodrem, for their hard work and commitment to making this a truly fantastic production.
