  • Success in Warwickshire Youth Parliament Elections

Students and staff at Campion School are celebrating an outstanding achievement following the recent Warwickshire Youth Parliament elections. A total of eleven Campion students put themselves forward, demonstrating enthusiasm, determination and a strong commitment to representing young people in their community.

After a period of campaigning and sharing their ideas with peers, five Campion students were successfully elected to represent South Warwickshire. This means that nearly half of the successful candidates came from Campion—a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to the dedication and leadership qualities of the students involved.

The election process required students to take on real-world responsibilities. Candidates were nominated through their school and worked hard to develop and present their own manifestos, outlining the issues they are passionate about and the changes they hope to make. They then campaigned among their peers, encouraging others to engage with the democratic process before taking part in a vote to elect their representatives.

The UK Youth Parliament plays a vital role in empowering young people. It provides a platform for students to engage in political discussions, learn about democracy and influence decisions on issues that matter most to them, such as education, mental health, and the environment. Being elected as a Member of Youth Parliament (MYP) is both an honour and a responsibility, giving students the opportunity to represent the voices of their peers on a wider stage.

Campion School is incredibly proud of all eleven students who took part in the election. Their willingness to step forward and make their voices heard is commendable. Special congratulations go to the five students who were elected—this is a fantastic achievement and a proud moment for the entire school community – well done to everyone.
